Within Reno, Sparks and the greater northern Nevada area, there are many places to play. Please call to confirm play times and fees as they may have been recently changed.

ALL CITY OF RENO FACILITIES ARE OPEN TO ALL PLAYERS! From Dan Massey, Recreation Manager for City of Reno: “If anyone contacts you in regards to our open play, please let them know that open play styles will change from facility to facility, but everyone is always welcome and encouraged to play at any City of Reno facility regardless of skill or ability.”

Alf Sorensen Community Center

Neil Road Recreation Center

  • Beginner and recreational play is the focus at Neil Road

  • Beginner/Novice Play:  Wednesday: 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM  –  Friday:  11:30 AM to 1:30 PM
  • Drills and Skills: First Wednesday of every month 4:45 PM to 6:45 PM
  • Open Pickleball: Every Wednesday (except first Wednesday) 4:45 PM to 6:45 PM
CITY OF RENO BEGINNING PICKLEBALL CLASS OFFERED.  A two week beginner class is offered on Mondays for a fee of $10.  You must register for this class.  Look under the Lessons & Clinics tab for details on how to register for the beginner class.

Plumas Gym – Three Challenge Courts

GYM WILL BE CLOSED DURING WINTER BREAK. LAST DAY OF PLAY IS FRIDAY DECEMBER 20TH. GYM WILL RE-OPEN FOR PICKLEBALL ON MONDAY JANUARY 6TH.

Gym will remain open until spring with the following exceptions when Washoe County School district is on break for the 2019 – 2020 school year.

      • Plumas Gym closed these dates for the 2019-2020 school year.
      • Winter Break – Monday December 23 – Friday January 3
      • Spring Break/Intersession – Monday March 16 – Friday March 27
  • Open Gym – All players welcome!
  • Open FIVE (5) days a week. Monday – Friday 9 AM to 1 PM.
  • 3 Challenge Courts – Winners will stay on for 4 games max.
  • Players must have a City of Reno Activity Card or a punch card.
  • No cash!
  • Cards may be purchased at Evelyn Mount or Neil Road Rec Center.

The Hive at Lazy 5 Regional Park

  • 2 indoor courts
  • 7100 Pyramid Way (The Hive is to the north of the skate park.
  • “Open Gym” hours on Tuesdays and Sundays 9-11 am will be free, however donations are encouraged and welcome. If you wish to reserve the facility for only your use on certain days and times at $70 for two hours. Contact the park ranger at Lazy 5 Regional Park.

Carson City MAC Center

Here is our drop-in play schedule for now
Saturdays and Sundays – 2:30 to 5:30 pm – 3 courts
Thursdays – 8:30 to 11:30 am – 2 courts only

“There will be a sign-in sheet at the front desk where fees will be collected for each session.
If you have a gym membership, there is no special fee for pickleball.
Without a gym membership, the fee is $10 with an IVGID card or $13 without an IVGID card. ($10 is equivalent to the Senior day rate for a gym membership, I believe.)”
