Bead Up Pickleball gets players Beadazzled!

Over 50 players came and played at Boys & Girls Club on Friday January 17th to play Bead Up Pickleball. Thanks to all who came and played. Great sports, good play and lots of fun.

Yes, there were some interesting thoughts on what was an unforced error and what was a winner, but hopefully all had fun and learned to play shots that keep the ball in play!

Prizes of $5 gift certificates to Dairy Queen will be emailed to the female and male players with the lowest and highest average of beads per game.

Winners of lowest average of beads per game:

Cathy Fitzgerald & Pete Macall

Winners of highest average of beads per game:

Diane DeLauer & George Leezy

Carson City Pickleball Courts Fundraiser – $10 Tickets

Tickets can be delivered to Reno area!

Click to see just how beautiful this pendant is!

From Dave Whitefield  and Juana Beguelin- USAPA Ambassador for Carson City.

For tickets and more information, please Email Dave or Email Juana. You may also call Juana at 775-882-6131.

“Juana and I have put together a fundraising raffle to try to make some additional money for our project to refurbish and convert 2 tennis courts at Mills Park into 8 dedicated outdoor pickleball courts. As you all know, we’ve raised a little over $5,600 so far with help from TMPC and all of you (thank you very much). We have gotten a little more ambitious, and believe if we can raise additional funds, we can expand the project from 4 dedicated courts to 8.

We’re promoting this at the MAC, through friends and family, and Juana’s connections in the community. I believe there is a potential here to raise all the funds needed to do the complete project for 8 dedicated courts.

Tickets are $10 each, and the prize is a beautiful gold, ruby and diamond pendant necklace with an appraised value of $1,000, generously donated by The Diamond Vault in Reno.

The drawing will be held at the MAC on February 8th, just in time for Valentine’s Day. You don’t have to be present to win.

If you can think of ways to help, want to buy and/or sell tickets, or just spread the word, we would greatly appreciate it. I’m attaching a copy of the flyer we created to help promote sales. You can contact me or Juana for tickets or more info.

Dave & Juana”
Big pickleball thanks to The Diamond Vault of Reno!

By Laws Review

Did you know that TMPC has been an organized club for four years. The original By Laws were voted on July 20, 2015.

Recently, your board has received input from some board members and members of a few laws that perhaps could be updated with approval.

We are asking each TMPC member to review the current by laws and suggest any changes that would benefit the club and it’s members.

A couple of suggestions received so far include:

  • Allow multi year memberships (at a discount or not?)
  • Twelve month memberships starting on date of membership and not run July 1 to June 30.
  • Change the second degree of consanguinity  to first degree of cosanguinity for board members.
  • Online voting for board positions rather than mandatory attendance for general elections.

If you have suggestions for By Laws changes, please submit them by emailing the club here:  TruckeeMeadowsPickleballClub

TMPC Members Give Big on Warm Goodies Day

250+ Pieces of Clothing Donated!

Big thanks to all the members who came and played and donated warm clothing for kids at Boys & Girls Club at our Warm Goodies event today.

Big thanks to Judy Wasson for “womanning” the white board for a fun and efficient new way to keep the courts filled and players mixing it up! Sorry I didn’t get a picture of Judy with dry erase pen ready to fill in players.

And as always, thanks to the board members and all the members who stepped up to help run this fun event. TMPC has great members!

Thanks again members for another wonderful event.  Hope to see you on the courts soon!

Wednesday Warm Goodies Event

Click on image for large flyer.

Over 50 members have signed up for TMPC’s next Members Only event. Thanks to all the members who have signed up.  *Drop in members welcome, too! *

Check in will be at 9:00 am and play will continue to noon.

Please remember to bring your warm goodies to donate for B&G Club kids!

We will be using a new to TMPC format recommended from members Judy Wasson and Trish Kirsch who have used the “white boards” in other pickleball areas.

Click on image for larger image.
Each square is for a group of 4 players who will play together.

When you want to play, enter your name in the first empty or partially filled box. If a box is full, write your name in the next available box.

When 4 players fill a box and the players listed above have finished their game, you should occupy the available court as quickly as possible. Please cross out your completed box before playing your game.

When you finish your game, you again list your name in the next available box, etc.

If you want to play with specific people (4 friends) you may enter all your names in the box only if they ARE NOT playing at that time and are present. Skip to the next available box to enter all 4 names together so that those waiting before you can play ahead of you.

Do not begin playing if the box above you is not filled in. The players in that box were there before you, so help them find players and wait your turn.

If no one else is there to play, remember to be kind and fill in the blanks with your name.

If there aren't enough players to fill in the boxes, everyone should always mix in with one another.

*All members are welcome to drop in and play but please bring a piece for two of kids’ warm clothing to donate to kids at the Boys & Girls Club.
